To provide a composite rolling roll excellent in abrasion resistance, surface roughening resistance, and accident resistance, and excellent in mechanical properties in the vicinity of the boundary between an outer layer and an inner layer.
The outer layer of the roll has a chemical composition containing, by mass%, > 3.0% and ≤ 4.0% C, ≤ 3.0% Si, 2.3-5.5% Ni, 0.1-2.0% Cr, 0.3-10.0% V, 0.005-0.5% of 1 or 2 kinds from Mg and Ca, and the balance Fe with impurity elements, and has graphite in its metallic structure. The inner layer of the roll consists of either of flake graphite cast iron, spheroidal graphite cast iron, or graphite steel. The roll has, between the outer and inner layers, an intermediate layer containing 3.0-4.0% C, ≤ 4.0% Si, 1.0-5.0% Ni, 0.1-1.5% Cr, 0.1-8.0% V, and the balance Fe with impurity elements.
