Title:
COMPOSITE STRUCTURE OF NIOBIUM-TITANIUM-ALUMINUM-CHROMIUM ALLOY MATRIX AND NIOBIUM-BASE METALLIC REINFORCEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3258406
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a metallic composite structure excellent in tensile strength and breaking strength at high temp. by dispersedly incorporating strand-like structures for ductility strengthening, composed of Nb-base metal, into an Nb-Ti- Al-Cr alloy matrix of specific composition.
CONSTITUTION: The composite structure is characterized as follows: an Nb-Ti- Al-Cr alloy of body-centered cubic structure, excellent in oxidation resistance and having a composition which consists of, by atom, 32-48% Ti, 8-16% Al, 2-12% Cr, and the balance Nb and in which the total content of Al and Cr is regulated to ≤22% and further to ≤16% in the case where Ti content is <37%, is used as matrix; a strand-like reinforcement with a size of at least 20 microns, composed of an Nb-base alloy increased in tensile strength and breaking strength at ≥1000°C and having body-centered cubic structure similarly, is incorporated by at least ≤5 vol.%; the outside part has matrix alloy. By this method, the metallic composite structure having ≥50% reinforcing ratio and usable at high temps. of ≤1400°C can be obtained.
