To obtain a detergent composition capable of allowing a solidified coating material, rust, a pigment and impurities in a pipe for transferring the coating material to be effectively cleaned and removed, and further to provide a method for washing the pipe for transferring the coating material by using the detergent composition.
This detergent composition for cleaning a pipe for transferring a coating material comprises (1) at least one kind of a 1-24C aliphatic sulfonic acid and an aromatic sulfonic acid, and (2) at least one kind of the following solvents (a), (b) and (c): (a) a 1-12C monohydric alcoholic solvent and esters thereof; (b) a polyhydric alcohol derivative of the formula [R1 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R3 is H or methyl; R3 is a 1-4C alkyl; (a) is 1-3] or an ester solvent derived from the polyhydric alcohol derivative; (c) a 3-10C etheric solvent. The cleaning method comprises cleaning the pipe for transferring the coating material by using the detergent composition, flashing a thinner for cleaning, and carrying out an air blow or a nitrogen blow.
