To provide a pharmaceutical composition and a food composition for the prophylaxis or the medical treatment of regressive cranial nerve disorders.

The pharmaceutical composition and food composition include as an effective component an extract from the longan arillus of an aril of the longan tree of Sapindaceae plant. Preferably, this pharmaceutical composition and food composition still more contain additionally one or more kind extracts selected from the group consisting of angelicae tenuissimae radix and polygalae radix, and moreover contain additionally one or more kind extracts selected from the group consisting of pueraria lobata radix, scutellariae radix, platycodi radix, angelicae dahuricae radix, cimicifugae rhizoma, raphani semen, and acori graminei rhizoma. Preferably, the regressive cranial nerves disorders are selected from the group consisting of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis.
