PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. which can be fed in the form of a liquid to extruders, can dispense with steps such as a pelletizing step, etc. is inexpensive, can greatly reduce the contamination with foreign matters and is suitable for use in the production of high-voltage cables, etc., consisting of PE, a liquid crosslinking agent and a liquid antioxidant.
CONSTITUTION: A compsn. for crosslinking PE consists of 100pts.wt. PE, 0.5W 5pts.wt. liquid crosslinking agent such as dicumyl peroxide and 1W5pts.wt. bis[2-methyl-4-(3-n-C12WC14 alkylthiopropionyloxy)-5-t-butylphenyl] sulfide as a liquid antioxidant. Since the compsn. can be fed in the form of a liquid to extruders, steps such as a pelletizing step, etc. can be omitted and manufacturing cost for PE moldings and PE-coated cables can be reduced. Since the compsn. is directly fed, there is in no heat history so that scorching is prevented and the contamination with foreign matters can be greatly reduced. When the compsn. is used in coating wires, dielectric strength is increased so that the compsn. is suitable for use in the production of high-voltage cables.
