Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic and/or dermatological composition for moisturizing the skin of both face and body or scalp or further softening the skin by using a glyceryl tri(α-hydroxyacylate). CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic or dermatological composition for moisturizing skin and softening the skin contains as an active ingredient a glyceryl tri(α- hydroxyacylate, namely the sole precursor of glycerol and a hydroxy acid, which is capable of releasing the glycerol and the hydroxyl acid onto the skin via an enzymatic reaction. The glyceryl tri(α-hydroxyacylate) is preferably a compound of the formula R1 -R3 are each a Cn H2n+1 [(n) is 0-12], especially glyceryl trilactate, glyceryl triglycolate, glyceryl trimandelate or glyceryl tritosylate. The active ingredient is preferably contained in an amount of 0.01-20 wt.%.
