To provide a compressor drive and a refrigerating air-conditioning device each having high reliability, capable of satisfactorily being started and efficiently operated by inexpensive inverter control, and capable of conducting easy operation by a commercial power source even if an inverter device fails.
This compressor drive device is provided with a compressor 10 which includes a compression mechanism for sucking and compressing a fluid and a motor for driving the compression mechanism, and the inverter device 12 for driving the motor 8 at a variable speed. The motor 8 is composed of a self-starting motor which includes a cage type conductor and a polarized permanent magnet in a rotor. The inverter device 12 is composed of a plurality of semiconductor switches for controlling the driving frequency of the motor 8.
