PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the data transmission efficiency in an ATM line, an exchange, or the like.
SOLUTION: An FC/ATM conversion part 1 and an ATM/FC conversion part 2 are provided with confirmation frame detectors 15 and 25 which detect a confirmation frame included in an FC (fiber channel) frame and address counters 16 and 26 which control in accordance with detection results of respective confirmation frame detectors so that write addresses and read addresses of memories 12 and 23 coincide with each other. Since the confirmation frame written in the memory is immediately read out and transferred as the result, the time interval of transmission of a series of data frames is narrowed in counter N ports which receive ATM cells from N ports side having an FC interface through an ATM network, and consequently, the whole of the data frame transfer time is shortened.
