PURPOSE: To provide the subject lightweight and flexible yarn keeping a inherent function stably by covering a functional core yarn with a natural or chemical fiber, the functional core yarn being obtained by twisting a narrow long blended paper compound with a functional fiber such as a metal fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A narrow long blended paper comprising a functional fiber such as a metal fiber for imparting desired physical properties to the objective yarn and paper main fiber is twisted to form a functional core yarn 4, and the functional core yarn 4 is covered with a natural fiber or synthetic fiber to form a cover layer 5, or the functional core yarn 4 is twisted with the natural fiber or synthetic fiber 6 to provide the objective yarn 1. The functional core yarn 4 is preferably prepared as the following steps: compounding the functional fiber with the paper main fiber, processing the prepared slurry into a functional paper, cutting the functional paper into narrow long pieces, twisting the pieces and subsequently combining the twisted pieces to each other into a long twisted yarn.
