Abstract:

To provide a connector for a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) capable of connecting the PCF with an SMF with a low connection loss, and also to provide its manufacturing method.

The connector for a PCF is obtained by inserting, into a ferrule, a PCF comprising a core part which has a refractive index higher than that of a clad part, the clad part disposed on the periphery of the core part, and a plurality of pores disposed on the clad part so as to surround the core part. The connector is characterized in that it is provided with a solid part disposed on one end and with a tapered pore part formed in the manner that the pore in a region adjacent to the solid part is gradually reduced in the diameter toward the solid part.
