Title:
VARIABLE WAVELENGTH LASER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3176682
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a variable wavelength laser which has a wavelength variable range of a wide band and in which an output wavelength can be simply varied.
CONSTITUTION: Exciting means 1 excites a laser medium 2a in a main resonator 2. The resonator 2 has, in addition to the medium 2a, two resonator mirrors 2b and a light input/output port 2c. A laser oscillation is generated by the means 1 and the resonator 2. A subresonator 3 has wavelength selecting means 3a and feedback means 3b, and has a role of spectrally analyzing a laser output from the resonator 2 and then again returning it between the mirrors 2b. An optical output port is provided in a device having the means 1, and the resonators 2, 3, and an optical output is produced therefrom to realize a variable wavelength laser. Since it is not necessary to provide wavelength selecting means in the main resonator of the laser, a laser oscillation is facilitated. Accordingly, even if a gain and exciting energy of the medium are small, an oscillation is performed.
