To provide a connector with reduced physical operating force for insertion and extraction of a second substrate, while assuring holding force to the second substrate.

The connector includes: a housing 3 to hold each of a first contact 1 and a second contact 2 by having a holding part 30a which elastically holds the second substrate P in a thickness direction between a contact part 14 of the first contact 1 and the housing; and a pressing member 4, positions of which can be displaced between a closed position and an open position, wherein in a closed position, the second substrate P is held elastically in a thickness direction between a contact part 24 of the second contact 2 and the pressing member, and in an open position, the distance between the contact part 24 of the second contact 2 and the pressing member is bigger than that of the closed position. While assuring the holding force of the substrate by arranging the pressing member 4 in the closed position with the second substrate P in a connected state, at times of insertion and extraction of the second substrate P, the physical operating force necessary for insertion and extraction is reduced by arranging the pressing member 4 at the open position.
