PURPOSE: To provide a connector which can enhance the reliability of the connection.
CONSTITUTION: A detention arm 28 capable of deforming elastically is formed on the first connector housing 1 holding the first terminal 2, and therein a short circuit member 5 to be connected with the first terminal is accommodated. A sliding member 6 energized by an energizing member 27 is slidably installed on the second connector housing 3 which holds the second terminal 4, and therein the first guide groove 21 for insertion of the detention arm is formed. In the fitting process of the first and second connector housings, the detention arm is elastically deformed by a stepped wall part 29b of the first guide groove and contacted with the sliding member to push it out backward. When fitting of the first and second connector housings is completed. contacting of the detention arm with the sliding member is disengaged, and the detention arm is detained with the detention part of the first guide groove, and the sliding member is energized forward to cause separation of the short circuit member from the first terminal.
