PURPOSE: To safely and exactly perform the constructing operations of an underground shield wall with good efficiency by a method in which a trench is excavated in advance on a planned line for constructing a shield wall of the ground's surface in order to use the trench for approximately positioning at the starting of penetration of a shield plate and also for preventing the diffusion of jet water to the ground's surface during the penetration.
CONSTITUTION: A trench 6 is excavated on a planned line L for constructing a shield wall on the ground's surface. Along the trench 6, a construction machine 1 is moved intermittently and a shield plate 5 is orderly penetrated into the ground by utilizing jet water. The trench 6 is utilized for roughly positioning of the shield plate 5 at the beginning of penetration and also for preventing diffusion of jet water for penetration to the ground's surface. To exactly determine penetrating position, an adequate length of scale blocks 7 are set of the edges of the trench 6. The penetrating positioning of the shield plates can thus be quickly made and damage by the outflow of jet water to the ground's surface can also be prevented.
