PURPOSE: To facilitate the extraction of transfer paper and jam processing by providing a driving source for fixation which freely turns normally and reversely and by reversing this driving source on the basis of a signal from a jam detection part.

CONSTITUTION: A heat roll 1 is driven by a press-contacting roll 2, which is couple with a motor 8 as a driving source. The motor 8 turns normally and reversely freely and a jam detection part 9 outputting the operation signal for it is provided right behind a nip. In the constitution, if transfer paper 4 jams at a fixation part, the detection part 9 detects that and the operation of the motor 8 is controlled. Namely, the detection signal stops the rotation of the motor 8, which is then reversed for a certain time and returns to normal turning drive. In the normal and reverse turning operation, the jammed transfer paper becomes hard to adhere onto the heat roller and is easily discarded to be taken out.
