To provide a direct gas-solid contact method for one or all of drying, dehydrogenation, calcining, catalytic reaction, chemical reaction, adsorption, contaminate control and the heating or cooling of a material.
A gas 9 flows while being in direct contact with a solid particle 15. The particle 15 is exposed to electrostatic force in a state in which the gas and solid particle 34 are made to flow counter currently without practically carrying the fine particle in the flow-out gas 14 even at high speed. The electrostatic force is alternately imparted through a high voltage power source 4, a corona discharge electrode 3 and the surface 8 of an electric earth and as a result, the back and forth particle motion to increase the gas-solid contact, that is, the heat and mass transfer rate is generated.
