Title:
CONTINOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11280867
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To enhance the durability by reducing a load applied to a component of a toroidal continuously variable transmission.

During low speed running, a low speed clutch 57 is engaged while a high speed clutch 58 and a backward clutch 61 are disengaged. During high speed running, the high speed clutch 58 is engaged while the low speed clutch 57 and the backward clutch 61 are disengaged. During high speed running a torque is applied to an output side disc 4 of a toroidal type continuously variable transmission. This torque becomes smaller as the gear ratio is displaced toward the high speed side as a whole. Correspondingly, a load applied to a component of the toroidal continuously variable transmission 34 is reduced. Further, the coupling conditions among components are contrived so as to reduce the number of components.
