Title:
CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD FOR STEEL SLAB
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3589014
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent central segregation and crack by subjecting the slab to a weak cooling treatment over the entire width thereof at least up to a bending start point exclusive of the strong cooling area of the entire surface right under a casting mold and subjecting the subsequent curved part to a central force cooling treatment, thereby suppressing the solidification delay quantity of the slab at a crater end to a specific range.
SOLUTION: The solidification delay quantity of the slab at the crater end is suppressed to ≤2.5 m. More preferably, the region where the curved part is subjected to the central force cooling treatment is from a position where the central solid phase rate in the central part in the transverse direction of the slab attains 0.1 to a position where the rate attains 0.8. The temp. in the region is limited to the surface temp. ≤900°C of the slab by the central force cooling treatment. As a result, the internal crack occurring in the central segregation of impurities is prevented even when a steel kind having a high crack sensitivity is continuously cast. When a draft is applied in the thickness direction of the slab at the end period of solidification, the central segregation itself may be eliminated by drawing out the thick molten steel into the bulk molten steel. The rolling reduction may be about <0.5 m/min.
