Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for continuously producing a purified cyclic formal by which the cyclic formal hardly containing impurities, especially the cyclic formal hardly containing formaldehyde and water is continuously produced in a constituent process from a synthetic step for the cyclic formal through a purifying step thereof and the rectification efficiency is remarkably improved. SOLUTION: When an alkylene glycol is reacted with formaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst by using a reactive distillation column having a reactor 1 and a distillation column 2 to produce a cyclic formal, the alkylene glycol is continuously fed from the distillation column 2 of the reactive distillation column to the reactor 1 and the formaldehyde is continuously fed to the reactor 1 of the reactive distillation column to react both the components. At this time, the alkylene glycol fed to the distillation column 2 is introduced into the reactor 1 while bringing the alkylene glycol into countercurrent contact with the unreacted formaldehyde from the reactor 1 and absorbing or reacting the alkylene glycol with the formaldehyde. Thereby, the alkylene glycol is reacted with the formaldehyde.
