PURPOSE: To prevent waste of fuel, by applying an angulr pulse signal representing operational conditions of a fuel injection pump of a diesel engine capable of changing the number of operative cylinders into an integrated circuit for exclusive input and output use and comparing the same with a processed reference signal, and thereby determining the cylinder to which fuel is to be supplied.
CONSTITUTION: A control apparatus for a fuel injection pump of the type capable of changing the number of operative cylinders, the injection quantity of which is determined according to the opening time of a solenoid valve, is composed of a micro processor MPU100, read-only memory ROM101, random access memory RAM102, decoder 106, solenoid valve driving circuit 107, divider 108, latch circuit 109, NAND- circuits 110, 112, inverter 111, etc. In changing the number of operative cylinders, pulses of REF pulses 121 are partially lost by the NAND-circuits 112, 110 and inverter 111 according to the data pattern of the latch circuit 109 and converted into REF' pulses, and demand for fuel injection is applied to an INTL129 of an integrated circuit LSI103 for exclusive input and output use. The cylinder to which fuel is to be supplied is determined automatically through comparison with an angular pulse POS signal 124.
