Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of types of automatic transmission devices by selecting a control characteristic on the basis of the calculation result of the pulse number ratio of pulse signals obtained from two speed sensors, and controlling the operation of an automatic transmission.
SOLUTION: An automatic transmission control device 20 has a control unit 21 for controlling the operation of an automatic transmission 2 for a front wheel-drive vehicle, a first speed sensor 22 and a second speed sensor 23. The first speed sensor 22 detects the number of revolutions related to a main drive axle to drive front wheels 4, and the second speed sensor 23 detects the number of revolutions related to a main drive axle driving system. Also, the pulse ratio of pulse signals obtained from the first and the second speed sensors 22 and 23 is calculated, and judgement is thereby made as to whether an automatic transmission mounted on a vehicle is used for a front wheel-drive vehicle or a four-wheel drive vehicle. Thereafter, a control characteristic is selected on the basis of the judgement, thereby controlling the operation of the automatic transmission. As a result, the number of types of automatic transmission control devices can be reduced for the subsequent reduction of manufacturing cost and management cost.
