Abstract:

To prevent a shock in the shifting time from the N range to a D range at a specific running mode in which a specific friction engaging device is engaged.

In the control device of an automatic transmission in which a main shift port and an auxiliary shift part are connected in series, the auxiliary shift part is set at a high speed stage in a backing stage, and using commonly a solenoid valve to control to set the auxiliary shift part to the backing stage, for the engeaging control of a friction engaging device in order to make a specific ahead stage in the operating condition of an engine brake or a hill hold, a control to set the other shift stage where the above friction engaging device is not engaged is carried out (Step 4 and 5), when it is detected that the range is shifted from the nonrunning range to the above runninh range (Step 2 and 3), and after that, the above shift stage is set (Step 6).
