To provide a control device for a diesel engine having simple structure using a knock sensor capable of accurately detecting the real ignition timing of a diesel engine without being influenced by vibration noise except that at combustion.
A knock sensor as an acceleration sensor is fitted to a cylinder block, and during a sampling period (S2), filtering is performed to extract vibration acceleration in a range of a predetermined frequency (S3, S4), and square values thereof are integrated (S5). When this integrated value exceeds an ignition timing determination level S_SL (S7), a delay time from integration starting timing to reach timing is computed (S8), and real ignition timing is computed based on the delay time (S9). The real ignition timing is used to correct, for example, main fuel injection timing.
