Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the smooth control of the localized position of a sound image in a small hardware scale where only a single small sound image localization filter is prepared for both Rch and Lch respectively.
SOLUTION: This control device has the sound image localization filters 12 and 22 which simulate the head part transfer functions measured against the localized position of each sound image and a control means 1 which controls the characteristics of both filters 12 and 22 by changing the coefficients of these filters stored in coefficient buffers 13 and 23 and then controls the aural position of a sound source signal. Each of filters 12 and 22 uses a single IIR filter, and the means 1 has a coefficient calculation means which calculates the coefficients of filters 12 and 22 simulating the head part transfer functions based on the characteristic parameter value that approximates the frequency characteristic of a given target head part transfer function.
