Abstract:

To suitably instruct a driver to perform shift operation for the optimum shift range according to the state of a vehicle.

When fuel residual quantity QFUEL is determined to be small, a preset shift range is selected as a required shift range GREQ based on the running state of the vehicle 10 so that priority is given to fuel economy over power performance. Then, when fuel residual quantity QFUEL is small, the shift operation to the shift range where priority is given to fuel economy over power performance is instructed to the driver, and when the driver performs the shift operation to the instructed shift range, a traveling distance DC depending on the fuel residual quantity QFUEL can be increased. In addition, when the fuel residual quantity QFUEL is large, the shift operation to a shift range where the compatibility between power performance and fuel economy performance is attained is instructed to the driver, and when the driver performs the shift operation to the instructed shift range, the power performance can be suitably secured without deteriorating the fuel economy performance.
