Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit for a compression ignition internal combustion engine which can change the compression ratio without a mechanical construction changing a relative position between a cylinder block and a crank case.SOLUTION: A compression ignition internal combustion engine 1 includes a water injection valve 42 which can supply liquid water of a prescribed temperature or less into a combustion chamber 6, and water supply control means 50 which controls the water injection valve 42 so that an amount of water corresponding to a required compression ratio is supplied into the combustion chamber 6 under the condition in which the temperature in the combustion chamber 6 is less than the prescribed temperature.
