To provide a lockup clutch control unit to perform a decelerative slip control in which a feedback control is started with a lockup clutch in the engaged condition being kept out of slippage and the lockup clutch is allowed to make a slip slowly first with this control started.
A control unit 100 performs a feedback control so as to converge the slip amount of the lockup clutchs to the target slip amount. When the clutch is to be put into the slip condition, the control unit 100 controls the duty ratio of a duty solenoid valve to the first value D1 on the lockup clutch release side by a feedforward control while it maintains the clutch in the engaged condition prior to the feedback control, controls to the second value D2 on the engagement side, and then to the third value D3 equivalent to the feedback control initial value with a size between D1 and D2.
