The controller is provided with a target rotational speed setting means (step S2) for setting a target engine rotational speed Neo corresponding to a throttle opening θTH of the engine E and the vehicle velocity V, a deterioration condition detection means (step S3) for detecting the deterioration condition of the working fluid of the continuously variable transmission CVT, and a target rotational speed adjusting means (step S5) for adjusting the target engine rotational speed Neo to a limited engine rotational speed (an upper limit engine rotational speed Nu and a lower limit engine rotational speed Nd) when the deterioration condition of the working fluid is detected by the deterioration condition detecting means, enabling the change gear control of the continuously variable transmission CVT so that the rotational speed of the engine E reaches the target rotational speed Neo.
