The imaging apparatus has an imaging element to image a subject to obtain an analog signal and an amplifier to amplify the obtained analog signal with a prescribed amplification factor not larger than a maximum amplification factor, and switches between the monocular imaging state which uses an imaging unit performing contour correction in accordance with a contour correction amount and the compound eye imaging state which images the subject with plural imaging units. The imaging apparatus changes the maximum amplification factor between the compound eye imaging state and the monocular imaging state. Moreover, the imaging apparatus changes the contour correction amount between the compound eye imaging state and the monocular imaging state.
