Abstract:

To provide a controller capable of avoiding shock at the start of an engine during motor travel, for a drive for a hybrid vehicle having an engine and an electric motor as its sources of driving forces.

When predetermined requirements are met, a travel condition control means 76 changes a transmission map shown in Figure 7, and disables or regulates speed changes by an automatic transmission unit 20 during motor travel. For example, if speed changes by the automatic transmission unit 20 during motor travel are disabled, engine start control will not be executed during speed changes by the automatic transmission unit 20; if speed changes by the automatic transmission unit 20 during motor travel are regulated, the chances of the engine start control being executed during speed changes by the automatic transmission unit 20 are decreased. Thus, the chances of the engine start control being executed according to the predetermined requirements while the automatic transmission unit 20 is not shifting gears, at which time control load is light, can be increased, and shock caused by the start control of the engine 8 can be avoided.
