Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely accomplish torque required by a driver.
SOLUTION: In this controller for an engine 1, an intake air quantity is controlled by means of a throttle valve 5 driven to be opened/closed independently of an accelerator pedal operation by a driver. In this case, a controller 16 compounds an accelerator opening operated by the driver and an intake quantity required for stabilizing the number of revolutions in an idle time together so as to find a required total opening area of the throttle valve 5. On the basis of an opening area found by normalizing the required total opening area, a target throttle valve opening is found, and the throttle valve 5 is driven so as to be opened/closed via a throttle valve driving device 6. In this way, no error due to fluctuation in the number of engine revolutions is generated in a computing process, so that the intake quantity required by the driver and the intake quantity required from idle stability can be accomplished with high precision over the whole number of revolutions.
