PURPOSE: To improve the coupling between a primary and a secondary windings and remarkably decrease the eddy current loss of windings, by winding the primary winding and the secondary winding which are divided into two parts, around magnetic legs of a closed magnetic path core constituted by combining two U-shaped magnetic cores so as to have a plurality of magnetic gaps.
CONSTITUTION: A primary winding 3a and a secondary winding 4a which are divided into two parts are wound around one magnetic leg constituted by combining two U-shaped magnetic cores 1 so as to have a plurality of magnetic gaps 6a, 6b. The residual primary winding 3a and the residual secondary winding 4b divided into two parts are wound around the other magnetic leg. Thereby, indepently of the length of a magnetic core, the winding width of the primary and the secondary windings, i.e., the facing area can be ensured two times as large as the conventional area, and the coupling between the primary and the secondary windings is increased, so that a small-sized thin type converter transformer of high quality whose high frequency loss is small can be realized at a low cost.
