PURPOSE: To position paper discharged from an intermediate tray correctly along a reference plane by obliquely feeding paper from an intermediate tray in a reverse direction before obliquely feeding it towards a side guide.

CONSTITUTION: In placing paper of which one side has been run through a copying machine into an intermediate tray, a skew roller 1 which is inclined by a prescribed angle θ with reference to an axis 2a extending at right angles to a paper conveying path 10, and a driving roller 3 pressingly in contact with the underside of the skew roller 1 feed paper obliquely so that a side edge of the paper is not brought into contact with a side guide 11. The paper that has been fed obliquely is then fed obliquely towards the side guide 11 by oblique feed rollers 5, 6 installed downstream so that the paper can be positioned accurately with its side edge brought into contact with the side guide 11 without its top edge being pressed hard against the side guide 11. This arrangement can prevent paper from being jammed on the paper conveying path, enabling paper to be conveyed correctly and smoothly for next image transfer operation.
