PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for directly cooling a rotary electric machine mounted on a ship using sea water.SOLUTION: A cooling device of a rotary electric machine comprising a stator and a rotor inserted into the stator comprises: a cooling jacket which has a cylindrical shape for surrounding the surrounding of the stator, and has at least one refrigerant channel formed into a shape of connecting an inlet and outlet in a single-stroke of the brush state and having a constant channel cross section; and a sea water pump for feeding sea water to the refrigerant channel so as to maintain flow rate of the sea water flowing in the refrigerant channel, within a range from a marine organism adhesion limitation flow rate which is a lower limit value of flow rate, at which no marine organism is adhered to a wall of the refrigerant channel, to a corrosion resistance limitation flow rate which is a lower limit value of flow rate, at which a mechanical function of the wall of the refrigerant channel is damaged and failure occurs due to corrosion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
