To provide a cooling device of a steel plate which completely prevents outflow of cooling water at the time of stopping water supply without requiring much complication of the cooling device and does not cause delay of rolling work, the warpage of the steel plate, and dispersion by materials or the like.
The cooling device of the steel plate includes a header pipe 1 arranged in the plate width direction of the steel plate, a cooling water injection nozzle 2 connected with the header pipe, a suction valve 3 managing supply/stop of cooling water to the header pipe, and a drain pipe 5. In the cooling device, the header pipe is structured to be a turnable type turnable around the axis thereof and has a turnable means 4 for turning the header pipe, so that when supply of cooling water to the header pipe is stopped, the header pipe is made to be turned and the direction of the cooling water injection nozzle is made to be turned more upward than a horizontal direction from an injection attitude of cooling water.
