To provide a flange forming apparatus that forms a flange in the end of a rod material.
A pulley manufacturing apparatus 10 includes a spindle 30 (supporting means), a forming mold 40, a rotary means 50, and a movement means 60. The spindle 30 rotatably supports a rod material 20 around the axis 24. The forming mold 40 is provided with a central axis 42 and a forming surface 46. The rotary means 50 rotates the spindle 30 around the axis of the rod material 20. The movement means 60 moves the rotary means 50 so that the rod material 20 moves in a radial direction with respect to the central axis 42 of the forming mold 40. In the pulley manufacturing apparatus 10, in forming the flange 23, the rod material 20 is moved in the radial direction with respect to the central axis 42 of the forming mold 40, thereby reducing a load imposed on the rod material 20 and the forming mold 40. Down-sizing of the pulley manufacturing apparatus 10 is made possible, thus enabling the apparatus 10 to be manufactured at low cost.
