Title:
COPPER PLAIN BEARING MATERIAL AND PLAIN BEARING FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3373709
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a Pb-free copper plain bearing material excellent in seizure resistance by specifying a composition consisting of Ag, Sn, and Cu and also allowing Ag and Sn to perfectly enter into solid solution in a Cu matrix.
SOLUTION: This material is a copper plain bearing material which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.1-2%, preferably 0.4-1%, Ag, 1-10%, preferably 2-7%, Sn, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities and further containing, if necessary, ≤0.5%, preferably 0.05-0.15%, P and in which the above Ag and Sn form virtually no secondary phases and are allowed to perfectly or materially enter into solid solution in the Cu matrix. Further, this material is free from Pb causing corrosion by deteriorated lubricating oil. The plain bearing for internal combustion engine, excellent in corrosion resistance and wear resistance as well as in seizure resistance, can be obtained by using this material and applying surfacing composed of soft metal or solid lubricant and resin.
