Abstract:

To provide a core material for an artificial joint which is lightweight of being the half or below compared with stainless steel and has rigidity nearly equal to stainless steel.

This core material is composed of a metal-ceramics composite material using SiC powder of 40 to 80 vol.% as a reinforcing material and an Al-Si-Mg based aluminum alloy as a matrix.
