Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for separation by introducing a mixture to a coalescing assembly contg. a coalescing member and forming a mixture contg. droplets of a corrosive aq.soln. coalesced in a non-aq. miscible, org. liquid phase.
CONSTITUTION: In a liq. purification system capable of separating a first liq. which is a corrosive aqueous liquid that forms a discontinuous phase from a second liq. which is a continuous phase-forming liq., an apparatus including a housing 20, an inlet 22 in the housing 20, a first liq. outlet 26 in the housing 20, a second liq. outlet 24 in the housing, at least one coalescing assembly for coalescing the first liq., and a liq. separating region in the housing, is provided. In the coalescing member 30 for coalescing the first liq. from the second liq., a fiber structure that includes fluoropolymer fibers, an end lid, a core and gauge are included.
