PURPOSE: To prepare a cosmetic capable of preventing the skin from drying up without causing glitteriness, stickiness, messy makeup, etc., of the skin and imparting the moistness to the skin by blending a cosmetic containing a specific amount of a powder with a specified glycoside.
CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic is obtained by blending a cosmetic (e.g. a makeup cosmetic) containing ≥2wt.% powder (e.g., talc or titanium dioxide) with a glycoside of a hydroxysalicylic acid and/or an aliphatic ester glycoside of the hydroxysalicylic acid of formula I, II or III [R1 is H or a 1-20C (un)saturated hydrocarbon; R2 is a saccharide residue]. The glycoside is preferably blended in an amount of 0.1-20wt.% based on the total amount of the cosmetic. The glycoside is preferably obtained by reacting the hydroxysalicylic acid or its aliphatic ester with an acetylated or an acetobrominated saccharide in the presence of an acidic catalyst. For example, 3-β-D-glucopyranosyloxysalicylic acid is cited as the ingredient (B).
