To obtain a coupled polymer having a high coupling ratio, a high transparency, a desirable color and high abrasion resistance by reacting an alkali-metal-terminated living polymer with a coupler.

The alkali-metal-terminated living polymer used is a living polymer represented by the formula: P-M (wherein M is an alkali metal; and P is a carbanion of a polymer of at least one 4-12C conjugated diene or a earbanion of a polymer of at least 8-18C monovinylarene). The coupler used is one represented by the formula (wherein R1 and R3 are each an aliphatic alkyl, an aliphatic alkenyl, or H; and R2 is an alkylene, an alkenylene, or a divalent cycloalkylene, or a divatent arenyl). A couple polymer having a coupling ratio of at least 70%, a transparency of at feast 70%, and a yellowness of below 10 can be obtained.
