Abstract:
To provide a method for economically introducing carboxyl groups into the terminal of a polymer obtained through cationic polymerization.
A polymer having terminal carboxyl groups can be easily synthesized by reacting the unsaturated carbon-carbon bond bound to the terminal of a polymer obtained through cationic polymerization with a compound having an aluminum-hydrogen bond and/or a compound capable of forming an aluminum-hydrogen bond, introducing carbon dioxide into the terminal aluminum-carbon bond of the polymer, and hydrolyzing the obtained polymer.
