PURPOSE: To obtain a creasing roll for producing an artificial leather having a finished face imparted with a natural leather-like luster by setting the roughness of the protruded part of the roll surface to be larger than that of the recess part of the surface.

CONSTITUTION: The surface roughness of the protruded part on the surface of a skin material of a creasing roll is made to be larger than that of the recess part of the roll. A polystyrene solution dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone is applied to the whole surface of the roll to an extent to hide the protruded and recess parts and heated to harden the polystyrene resin. The whole surface of the roll is roughened with fine alumina particles and the polystyrene resin is dissolved and removed to obtain the objective skin-creasing roll having the roughness of the protruded part on the roll surface larger than that of the recess part. When a surface skin material for artificial leather is subjected to creasing treatment with the obtained creasing roll, the luster of the obtained artificial leather is different between the protruded part and the recess part to obtain an artificial leather having a finished face imparted with the feeling of natural leather.
