To enable tests in an actual environment by storing in a capsule a coupling means for coupling a first and a second hold means and storing a test piece, a pressing means for acting a tensile force and an extension measuring means.
Both ends of a test piece 104 are held by a first fixing jig 106 and a second fixing jig 108, and a bellows 110, a lid 102, a pressure pipe 114, etc., are set to a capsule 100. The creep test apparatus constituted as above is inserted in a nuclear reactor. At this time, a high pressure gas is supplied from a high pressure source via the pressure pipe 114 to a hermetic chamber 112, so that chamber is controlled at a predetermined pressure. In consequence, the bellows 110 is deformed and extends in an axial direction of the test piece 104, the second fixing jig 108 moves downward and acts a tensile force to the test piece. The pressure in the hermetic chamber 112 is controlled so that the tensile force of a predetermined value acts to the test piece 104. A current is supplied to a heater 120 to heat the test piece 104 to a predetermined temperature. The extension of the test piece 104 is measured by a displacement meter 116.
