Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polypeptide which is a GTP-binding protein and is useful for treatments or diagnostic assays, etc., of functional illnesses or diseases including a chronic renal disease, renal ischemia, diabetic nephropathy, acute renal insufficiency and Alzheimer's disease. SOLUTION: This polypeptide is the polypeptide on the basis of the chronic renal insufficiency gene-1, which comprises the amino acid sequence having at least an 80% identity to the amino acid sequence of the formula all over its entire lenght, and is obtained by such an adequate method as the recombinant method. The polynucleotide encoding the chronic renal insufficiency gene-1 polypeptide is obtained by the standard cloning and screening methods from a cDNA library derived from the mRNA in cells of a human kidney and/or a testis through the EST(expressed sequence tag) analysis.
