Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a cross-linkable composition based on a hydrogenated nitrile rubber and an ethylene/carbon monoxide copolymer, and being capable of giving a vulcanized material, which is easily processable and has good mechanical properties and excellent surface properties.

CONSTITUTION: This cross-linkable composition comprises 40-98 wt.% hydrogenated nitrile rubber having an acrylonitrile content of 10-60 wt.%, desirably 20-50 wt.%, a degree of hydrogenation of 80 wt.%, desirably 85-95 wt.% and a Mooney viscosity (100°C) of 10-150, desirably 25-120 (e.g. hydrogenated butadiene/ acrylonitrile copolymer) and 2-60 wt.% ethylene copolymer comprising 30-94 wt.% ethylene, 3-30 wt.% carbon monoxide and 3-67 wt.% another olefinically unsaturated monomer (e.g. desirably vinyl acetate) and having a Mooney viscosity of 1-120, desirably 1-100.
