Title:
CROSSLINKABLE WATERBORNE DISPERSION OF HYDROXY-FUNCTIONAL POLYDIENE POLYMER AND AMINO RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3481358
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinkable waterborne polymer dispersion by dispersing a hydroxy-functional polydiene block polymer and a compatible amino resin at a specified ratio in water by using a specific surfactant.
SOLUTION: A nonionic or anionic surfactant having a volatile cation (e.g. triethylamine salt of p-toluenesulfonic acid) is mixed with water. In the resultant mixture, a mixture of a hydroxy-functional polydiene polymer and a compatible amino resin (e.g. a butylated amino resin) is dispersed with a high-shear mixer/ emulsifying machine. Thus is obtd. a waterborne dispersion of a crosslinkable hydroxy-functional polydiene polymer compsn. comprising 10-65 wt.% hydroxy- functional polydiene block polymer, 0.2-25 wt.% compatible amino resin, 0.1-10 wt.% nonionic or anionic surfactant having a volatile cation, and the balance water. The dispersion is useful as a material for adhesives, etc.
