Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crystallization-suppressed polyester that exhibits decreased cloudiness and whitening by specifying the content of Sb in a polyester obtd. by reacting an acid component contg. terephthalic acid with a glycol component contg. ethylene glycol.
SOLUTION: This polyester is obtd. by reacting an acid component contg. at least 95 mol.% terephthalic acid with a glycol component contg. at least 95 mol.% ethylene glycol in the presence of an Sb compd. as the polymn. catalyst, contains Sb in a concn. of 60-380 ppm (based on the polyester), has thermal properties satisfying formulas I and II [wherein Tcd is the crystallization exotherm peak temp. (°C) in temp. descrease by DSC; and Tci is the crystallization exotherm peak temp. (°C) in temp. increase by DSC], an intrinsic viscosity satisfying formula III (wherein [η] is the intrinsic viscosity in phenol/ tetrchloroethane in a ratio of 3/2 at 35°C), and a content of diethylene glycol(DEG) satisfying formula IV, and contains Zn in such a molar ratio to Sb as to satisfy formula V.
