PURPOSE: To enable high-efficiency cultivation in carrier process, by using a medium-preparation chamber having a medium-feeding port, an aeration gas feeding pipe and a stirring member and separating the preparation chamber from the upper culture chamber with a perforated plate having a pore size to inhibit the passage of the carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Microorganisms or cells are attached to a carrier, and are cultured in a culture tank 1 in floating state. The medium-preparation chamber A of the lower part of the culture tank 1 is furnished with the medium-feeding port 11, the aeration gas feeding pipe 10 and the stirring member 6, and the microorganisms or cells attached to the carrier are cultured in the culture chamber above the medium-preparation chamber A. The medium-preparation chamber A is separated from the culture chamber with a perforated plate 8 having a pore size to inhibit the passage of the carrier. An inverted conical separation chamber C having larger diameter at the upper part is placed above the culture chamber, and the medium-extraction port 13 to extract the medium in the separation chamber is attached to the top of the culture tank 1. A high- efficiency cultivation by a carrier process can be realized by the above apparatus.
