PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device for a metal, which is possible to cut by either of laser beam or plasma arc and is possible to simultaneously cut in two different positions with patterns possible to the individually controlled.
SOLUTION: The cutting device is equipped with a gantry 12 movable in the longitudinal direction and a carriage 24 mounted movably in the lateral direction on the gantry. A laser beam cutting head 34 and a plasma arc cutting head 40 are mounted side by side on the carriage 24. This device is programmed so that either of laser beam working head or plasma arc cutting head is controlled by the gantry 12 and the carriage 24 while they move in a prescribed path over a work-piece existing under the gantry 12 and the carriage 24. A laser beam generator is mounted on the gantry 12 so that the laser beam is transmitted to the laser beam cutting head with the minimum bend and reflection. And also, this device is equipped with a second carriage on which second laser beam cutting head and second plasma arc cutting head are mounted so that simultaneous cutting can be performed along two cutting lines.
